Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement

We believe that everyone has the power, in some way, to build mutually respectful relationships across racial and ethnic lines that honor and value each person’s humanity.

Diversity:

Although the focus of our programs is directed towards teaching and performing the cultural heritage and Mexican traditions, we do not limit our services or employment to one ethnic group.  We welcome all perspectives and intentionally teach how different groups of people have similarities and their roles in the historical evolution of the arts in Mexico.

Equity:

We are not a large organization, but we do have a significant constituency who have been underrepresented and historically disadvantaged.  They rely on us to provide them with knowledge, resources and information that can empower them through arts education and inspire them to succeed by increasing access, resources, and opportunities. These small acts of service can have a major impact to help people heal from the effects of racism. It can also be the conduit for change by educating the mainstream community to embrace and understand other ethnicities.

Inclusion:

The essence of our existence is the desire that all of our staff, students and audience members feel valued and safe in the knowledge that we welcome diversity, strive for equity and promote inclusion to thrive in a community where traditions and the cultural arts are celebrated as a vehicle to build understanding and tolerance for all ethnicities.
