Jerry Vargo

Music Instructor
Jerry Vargo has been singing as far back as he can remember, picking up church hymnals at age three and singing along. After many years of singing in choirs and playing trumpet in band, Jerry is now studying degrees in Music Education and Voice Performance at the University of Michigan Flint. He has been a selected soloist for many of the university’s choral concerts and has even had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with both the Jazz Combo and University Orchestra. After graduation Jerry hopes to be inspiring the next generation of choral singers with both the beauty and cultural impacts music can bring to all those who sing it. He has been teaching voice, trumpet, and piano privately through several music studios in Genessee County for three years, joining El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil in January of 2020. His favorite part of teaching is the “lightbulb” moment when students realize they have just done what they never thought they could. Jerry has thoroughly enjoyed getting to know and perform with the El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil family and aspires to continue bringing his classical voice training to the rich traditions of mariachi music and its future performers.
